'Dublin' Acoustic Live Performance

Singer/songwriter and travel vlogger Claire Hawkins reflects on the bittersweet side of travel in the new live performance video for her song 'Dublin.' The song was released last November on Hawkins's sophomore EP Foreign Voice.

On 'Dublin,' Hawkins sings with mixed emotions about celebrating an anti-climactic 21st birthday alone in Ireland. The song comes from a page in a travel journal Hawkins was keeping at the time. She had just arrived in Ireland after four months in Berlin, deciding to spend Christmas with her dad's family in Dublin instead of going home to New York City for the holidays. She explains, "In some ways, Dublin felt like a homecoming. I finally had the chance to visit a place that I'd heard so much about growing up. At the same time, though, I couldn't shake this feeling of loneliness." It was that inner conflict that inspired her to write 'Dublin.'

For this performance video, Hawkins again worked with local Dublin filmmaker Florence Bradish, who directed the official music video for the song. The vintage footage of Dublin featured in this performance video reflects the introspective mood of the song.

Hawkins's Foreign Voice EP is about leaning into the discomfort of travel and embracing things you never thought you would do. Keeping with that idea, Hawkins created the Foreign Voices Travelers Tour. Sponsored by Journey Instruments, the tour is took place in youth hostels all over Europe. Along the way, Hawkins created music-focused travel vlogs and hosted a Foreign Voices interview series with local musicians to showcase different music scenes around the world.

Foreign Voice EP

Claire Hawkins brings new life to the term troubadour as a singer/songwriter and travel vlogger. Her genre-defying folk-pop sound reflects her New York City upbringing, and her narrative lyrics are the product of being raised by two polyglot parents.

After releasing her debut EP Even These Words in 2017, Hawkins spent a year studying in Europe, where she developed a passion for travel. In celebration of her travel-themed EP Foreign Voice, Hawkins toured hostels around Europe on the Foreign Voices Travelers Tour. She documented her trips with unique video content, including behind-the-scenes tour vlogs and an interview series with artists from around the world. These videos are available on her YouTube channel.

Hawkins has always believed that music and travel are two of the best ways to bring people together, and the Foreign Voices Travelers Tour has proven that to be true.
